Memjet is an entirely new printing category that brings cost-effective, on-demand color printing to the manufacturing floor. The Memjet Labels benchtop print engine features over 70,000 nozzles that deliver millions of ink drops every second. Our 8.77-inch-wide print head delivers 1,600 dpi native print resolution in process color (CMYK). Our labels print engine can deliver speeds of 12 in/sec in standard print mode and 6 in/sec for premium-quality print mode. A standard 8-inch diameter label roll can be printed in less than 9 minutes. The compact Memjet printhead contains 70,400 nozzles from which all colors are printed. The registration between colors is highly accurate. Each ink color is delivered via large (125 ml or 250 ml), long-lasting, snap-in ink cartridges.

History repeats itself for many people today … Memjet technology was a good topic for jokes, the announcement of this revolutionary technology and inkjet printing up to its actual market launch. The difference lies not only in technical performance, but also in how to start. Choosing Intel’s business model, they selected young but very dynamic companies, capable of producing the best inkjet printing machines for narrow-web Labeling. And that takes time. Their market launch was made only when the Memjet print-engine was implemented successfully in printing machines, 100% compatible with industry-specific requirements of narrow web labeling. Technical performances and economic advantages resulting from here are truly impressive, and even devastating to some of those who initially laughed about Memjet.
Thus in September 2010, the first version of the Memjet printing press technology for the roll-to-roll, was presented as SpeedStar3000. And on 15 February 2011, launched the actual production of the second version, which includes all required modernization of the sites that tested version 1, inluding CONDORCOM Ltd., Exclusive Reseller for Romania, Moldova and Macedonia.
SpeedStar3000 (including an un-winder, an CMY and 2K set of 250 ml, 1 Print head) supplies:

At 1600 by 1600 real dpi and as a contact-less printing technology Memjet has a superior quality even to digital flexo plates, without any pre- production costs (film, plates, distortion factors, dot gain compensation, different anilox depending on ink consumption, technological losses for the registry and optimal transfer of ink, or to adjust the contrast and gray balance, test pattern and approval for print production….. in other words: A LOT OF TIME and MONEY).
And do not forget the moire effects and banding, which are excessive in flexo technology. At 1600 by 1600 real dpi resolution, and the size of 1.2 pl of ink, printed image quality is limited only by the quality of source images.
Without the specific limitations of flexo printing, high-lights areas and dark shadows (linear dot curve on the printed material from 1% to 100% – without any ” raster jumps”), only Memjet technology can print perfectly, images containing such details, which are practically impossible in flexo printing (for dark shadow areas should use higher transfer anilox, and lower transfer anilox respectively for details of high-lights areas).
Speed of 300 mm/s to color printing at 1600 by 800 dpi is more than satisfactory, and coupled with gap sensing, black mark sensing and continuous roll handling, gives you the most profitable machine for narrow-web digital label printing.
If we talk about printing at 1600 by 800 dpi with speed of 12 inches per second (30.48 cm/s, ie 18.3 m/min) of SpeedStar3000 , and less then 10.000 euro for the entire investment, and compare with:

At the paper feeding, there is a scanner (CIS or Label Sensor) with a resolution of 1600 dpi, which measures continuously, the Top Of Form, the Gap and the Edge for each label entering the print engine, and the very fast processor, makes all calculations of re-positioning (re-registering) the pattern in real time, for any positional variation of pre-die-cutted labels or continuous roll. In this way a pattern is made of roll to roll, perfectly aligned, not only in the color registers, especially for positional convergence of each printed label.
Memjet is the only technology that has no physical possibility for registry errors, since the pattern on all five color channels are simultaneously printed in line, on each of the physical 1600 dpi. The print head is fixed and print the full width without moving, and the media is also very stable in each of the 1600 dpi of the step by step motor.
As in electro-ink case the printing media for inkjet is simillar (self-adhesive paper, synthetic paper, PVC, PE, BOPP, etc., ….. matte or glossy, opaque or transparent), but must have inkjet coating. And as demand is increasing exponentially worldwide, inkjet rolls manufacturers launch each month new inkjet media.
